Rejoice! A new M249 that isn't a basic reskin or a minigun! The very basic way to describe this gun is, a G3 machinegun edition, and it really is fun to use as it sounds. Absolutely no complaints about the model, very nicely detailed and a refreshing change from the boring old Para. The 2 skins by NZ Reason are also top notch, everything from the transparent panel in the back of the magazine to the grooves on the foregrip has detail, no aliasing, high quality, excellent. As I said before there's 2 skin variants, which are pretty much the same apart from the secondary non-default one (Top left) has a darker look, with less 'silver bits', follow the readme for instructions on how to change to it if needed. The last point about this release is Hav0cs animations, they fit the weapon perfectly, and you guessed it - no problems there either. The only thing that could be classed as a downside is lack of reflect or normal maps, but considering they aren't really required with a largely synthetic weapon it's not a big deal. Overall, best M249 replacement to date, enjoy.

A first for CS:S, the creation of this C-mag has allowed pretty much any weapon to be turned into a suitable para replacement, the first of which being the M4. Lamas M4 with SIRS has already been reviewed, so for more information on it go check the M4 section. In a nutshell though, it's brilliant and is by far the best looking replacement out there in terms of quality. The only changes in this version include the addition of a C-mag and vert grip, along with animations by Sober so needless to say you will be satisfied. My only gripe with this replacement is the fact that the weapon and magazine don't quite colour match, but that's no big deal really. Reflects included, enjoy.

As the old saying goes, "third time is a charm." That saying can be applied to this RPK, which after 3 tries, has finally ironed out most of the bugs. First thing fixed; the gun now has a right hand model. Also fixed are animations, sounds, model parts and perhaps a few other things. The base model is firegold's AK, which looked fine for the synthetic AKS47, but it looks a bit outdated here. Darkstorns AK would have done the trick in my opinion. The skin is a little old as well, and there are no normal or reflect maps so once again I get a feeling that the skin is outdated. Animations are new, the mag is now dropped off screen, and the reload sound does a great job of conveying that is has been dropped and the player is searching for a new magazine in a pouch. This compile also has world models unlike version 2, so once again this compile is an improvement over the older ones. This skin is nice but not as refined as the Hk23 in the para section, but for those looking for a eastern LMG, this fits the bill.

What we have here, is the default model, but with new parts that in my opinion enhance the quality of the original model. The new parts include a new forgrip, box magazine and belt/shells. The picture can describe what you will get more accuratly, so I will forcus on the quality of the release. The hack is pulled off well, the heat shield and rail look very good, as does the magazine. The shells give off the illusion that they are clipping through each other, it may just be the picture though. In conclusion, this release is a nice upgrade from the default, and I really don't see any reason to go back.

A lot of you have been waiting for this to happen for a long time, and here it is. I've never been too keen on the idea of a minigun in CS, or indeed a minigun being held by a man at all, but this replacement pulls it off quite well. It's everything you want a minigun to be - big, black, and sexy, and best of all, includes world models and custom sounds. The down side is that the skin isn't very detailed, and even then the over the top reflect maps drown-out what little remains. The arms also seem to move around a lot during the idle animation and look a little odd, But despite this, it makes for a very 'interesting' and enjoyable replacement.

Another M249 reskin. This this looks a lot like the other reskin of the default model, however instead of white sights it has a light grey heatshield, which features on some real M249s. This reskin is nothing special, but far superior to the default. World model reskin included.

Our first Para skin, and a rather simple one at that. This reskin simply adds a white section onto the front of the weapon that is present on a real M249, but not on VALVe's. It also ups the contrast, making the scratches more prominent and making the grey metal section stand out a bit more.
