Once again NovaRain has released an AKS-74U. The major changes over the old version include the addition of a silencer and Hav0c's animations. Pretty much everything else remains the same, except for a few differences with the skin and a tweak so that the world models will work. I like the new silencer, it represents an authetic PBS-1 device and although it really doesn't make the gun fire any quieter than before, it does a good enough job of conveying it does. Even though the AK has the same skin as before, it looks sharper to me, I don't know why. Jennifer's animations are good, but they have gotten a little old for me. I have been using them for years now. Hav0c's new AK animations are included as well, and they are something new and fresh for me. Once again another good Kalashnikov hack from Novarain and friends, so if you like what you see, then download it, you will be impressed.

A relatively unheard of weapon amongst most, the Sako is a Finnish rifle roughly based off the well known AK47, and as such is like a cousin to the Galil, making it a suitable replacement. It does it's job very well in all aspects, the model is great, skin is great, and it features some pretty good ref maps. World models are also included for those of you who demand them. It also uses Hav0c's AK anims which although I'm not usually very fond of, seem much more suitable on this model and get the seal approval as far I'm concerned. Overall this is definitely one of the best Galil replacements to date, right up with the AKS-74U. Give it a try, you shouldn't be disappointed.

Back in the day of 1.6, novarain's original AK hack satisfied my desire for a galil replacement. Sharing somewhat similar caliber, magazine capacity, and roles, the AKS74U made a perfect replacement for my default galil. And now its availible for CS: Source, with some upgrades of course. The model is based off of Darkstorn's excellent AK47, with numerous other authors contributing to modify a fullsize AK47 into the compact AKS-74U. The final product is excellent. The skin is good, somewhat basic, but good. The only parts that bothered me that are worth mentioning are the grips. The forgrip on both the "wood" and "synthetic" skins are mismatched in my opinion. The AK74 series never used real wood, instead they featured a bright orange plastic, which is here, but for some reason the top part of the front grip is wood, and that for me throws the entire tone of the skin off. The synthetic doesn't have the same issue, but instead the lower portion of the front grip is grooved to make griping it easier. The concept is good but the skin for it just doesn't look right, not enough detail to convince me that the grooves are real. The animations are jennifer!!'s, I love them, so no complaining there from me. Sounds are included, they seemed good enough that I don't need to mention any issue with them.

Since one of the recent updates, I have heard that the world models do not work, they still might, but if you get a consistancy error, delete them from your weapons folder.

Darkstorn's AK has been used a couple times now as a galil replacement and as great as it is, it still can't beat this new AKSU. This new AKS74U model is amazing, few models can compare to the detail and quality that is present here. Everything is detailed, from the foregrip to the bolt assembly. The skin is very well done as well. The reciever looks particularly nice. Some normal maps for the metal look great as well. This gun has jennifer's latest AK animations. They are nice, but the reload seems to be a little robotic, as in the stages of the reload are not fluid. There are sound for the reload, but no firing sound, so you will have to shop around for a worthwile firing sound. World models are included. I could spend awhile destribing the quality of this rifle but not only would it take awhile to do so but would not truely describe the excellence of this replacement. This is a case where a picture can be worth a thousand words. You really have to try this replacement just to understand the quality involved in it making it.

A lot of you have been waiting for another Galil - and here it is. This time in the form of an FN FAL. Personally I think this is a pretty strange choice of replacement weapon, it would be more suitable for the autosniper considering the size and calibre. But on with the review - The model is excellent, the skin pretty good, however the custom animations are boring and the origins a bit too low, which really lets this replacement down a bit. It also includes world models, and 4 different skins - 2 wood and 2 synthetic, so one of them is bound to tickle your fancy.

This model is perfect for you Galil lovers out there, it includes new animations by Jen, a reflect map, world models, and a nice simple and clean layout. The only Cons are that this galil looks a bit too simple when compared to the original, but that's ok if you like that kind of thing. Other than that - a top notch replacement.

Thus gun is very highly detailed, and includes reflect maps and world models. My only issue with this replacement is the fact that the barrel gets very small towards the end, and looks a bit odd. However it is still a thoroughly enjoyable and high detailed replacement. If you're looking for somthing different from the usual, give this a go. You can also find a version of this model with a scope for the SIG550 in the appropriate section.

Well this was pretty much unexpected, but it seems some people really like the old WW2 weapons in CS. While there's nothing wrong with this, it does feel just a little out of place in a counter-terrorism game, however it doesn't stop the ol' Tommy gun from being a good replacement at all. The weapon includes reflect maps, normal maps, world models, and custom animations - The whole package. My only problem with it is that it feels quite bland, and not very well detailed, but then again the real version isn't exactly the most beautiful gun on the planet, so it's not so bad. Definitely the novelty of the Galil section.

This is more than just a standard galil. This version has a transparent magazine and a stock that looks much like one off of a Dragunov. In a way this release could be considered a Galil Designated Rifleman variant. The model is a convert from 1.6, no real thrills there. The front site is blocky and the version with the aimpoint looks a little odd. The skin is basic, but needs some reflect maps to spice up things. Jen's animations are used and they work well here. This could appeal to some, but I will stick with my plain old galil, no accessories for me.
