I was looking forward to this release myself but unfortunately it just doesn't do it for me, and in my opinion has too many annoyances, although you can make up your own less-critical minds on it. The model is very high poly (11,000+), with the magazine alone making up almost an entire 1.6 model's worth of polygons, so if you have suffering FPS you may want to stay clear of this. The problems I have with the model are the fact the aimpoint caps are on, and just look ugly and get in the way as they take up too much space, another issue that bothers me is the origins are too close to the face and the sights are still on, even though that's perfectly acceptable it just looks too crowded. The skin is my second issue, it seems too light, and there's nowhere near enough variation in colour, it's just all light grey and doesn't really look much like a Sig 552 should. The lighting on the skin also seems too heavy in areas, and the glowing red aimpoint just looks fake and could of come from a 1.6 skin. Anoter note about the red lense, due to the way it's made the entire aimpoint model reflect maps have a red tint, meaning in certain areas not only the lense but the rest of that section too will turn red. Nice eh? Lastly, the animations by Hav0c are pretty decent, and probably his best Sg552 set so far. Despite saying all that about the model and skin, it will no doubt satisfy quite a few people, so leave your comments in the members review area. I prefer this one over the other since the scope model is beefier and the lense has a reflect map on it. Other than that, its identical to the other Sig.
LR-300

The model good, although it is mostly hidden from the placement of the hand on the receiver. The scope has been turbosmoothed, and looks better than the original release. The skin looks good enough, but lacks reflect maps on the body of the weapon, although the scope does have one. The animations are good, except for the idle placement of the hand on the gun. It would have looked much better holding the foregrip. This release does have World models. Review & Submission by Milkman
Lama & Wannabe's LR-300

I like the new skin over the old one mostly because the colors, although somewhat exaggerated, are more appealing to the eye and just feel "right" I suppose. The animations are still a problem though. I just can't stand having the hand hold onto the magazine well like that. If it held the heat shield properly, this would be one of the greatest SG552 replacements around. There still is some good news however. This compile has working world models, another improvement over the older skin because these work with the latest player animations. Review & Submission by Milkman

The model is darkstorn's galil, but it is improperly mirrored to accomidate the animations. Its a little bit of a set back but nothing major. The scope is good, but the lense bothers me because it just feels out of place in source. We have the technology now to create reflective scopes, so why not use it? The model also has a laser, which I am not too fond of, but there isn't anything wrong with the laser so no points deducted there. The skin is decent, black it is, but the use of reflect maps helps out and gives such areas as the reciever top a more metallic feel. Its an interesting concept, which could be imporved on, but as it is, its still a pretty good replacement. Other than that.. no real problems!

Reload animations have clipping problems, and the scope lense isn't smoothed properly, so you can see the triangualtions. Also the textures are rather bland. What is most bizarre about this gun is that it replaces the sg552, a terrorist gun, with a experimential American assualt rifle. I would have expected to see it on the CT list. On the good side it has custom sounds and is the first of its kind for Source. Review & Submission by Milkman
