Back in the day of 1.6, novarain's original AK hack satisfied my desire for a galil replacement. Sharing somewhat similar caliber, magazine capacity, and roles, the AKS74U made a perfect replacement for my default galil. And now its availible for CS: Source, with some upgrades of course. The model is based off of Darkstorn's excellent AK47, with numerous other authors contributing to modify a fullsize AK47 into the compact AKS-74U. The final product is excellent. The skin is good, somewhat basic, but good. The only parts that bothered me that are worth mentioning are the grips. The forgrip on both the "wood" and "synthetic" skins are mismatched in my opinion. The AK74 series never used real wood, instead they featured a bright orange plastic, which is here, but for some reason the top part of the front grip is wood, and that for me throws the entire tone of the skin off. The synthetic doesn't have the same issue, but instead the lower portion of the front grip is grooved to make griping it easier. The concept is good but the skin for it just doesn't look right, not enough detail to convince me that the grooves are real. The animations are jennifer!!'s, I love them, so no complaining there from me. Sounds are included, they seemed good enough that I don't need to mention any issue with them.
Note: Follow the Readme closely to properly install the two model varients for this release.
Since one of the recent updates, I have heard that the world models do not work, they still might, but if you get a consistancy error, delete them from your weapons folder.

I now like Galil better than Ak thanks to this... I recommend the Wood version.... This is the best galil skin ever..if you are having trouble installing here is what to do.....................................................................
When you have dl it... extract to Desktop in New Folder... then select Wood... and extract it to CsSource Cstrike... and your done....

Actually, the real AK74 only uses orange plastic for the mag and pistol grip. The receiver is still made out of wood. Still a nice model, though, and if you don't like it you can always overwrite the receiver with the synthetic one. The sounds are great, also.

I hope you didn't take points for that, seeing as you're wrong. All AK47 models, including the AKS74U(as a matter of fact, not even the newer versions of AKS74U had plastic, but they can be installed as custom parts), had wooden furniture. Not so for the late models, but the early models had full wooden furniture, and plastic orange magazines. The plastic handguards and stocks also look totally different. :P
And sorry for rating this so high, i just prefer not to tamper with the score too much as i don't like reviewing my own stuff.

i love it to bits!! i could give it a 10 if the magazine was not made out of wood!! give the magazine a carbon look and the stock a wooden look then its 10 straight off
