This XM8 is something special, but some flaws really hold it back. Reload animations have clipping problems, and the scope lense isn't smoothed properly, so you can see the triangualtions. Also the textures are rather bland. What is most bizarre about this gun is that it replaces the sg552, a terrorist gun, with a experimential American assualt rifle. I would have expected to see it on the CT list. On the good side it has custom sounds and is the first of its kind for Source.

I've been using this one for a while, and you know what? I don't know why. It's an okay model, but totally wrong gun, totally wrong team, and no world models. I guess I'm just waiting for a better one to come out (not XM8, a new SIG552 replacement)

I agree with the member above. I use this gun, but only until something better comes along. But I don’t think the original reviewer gives it enough credit. Anyone coming from any other version of CS won’t even notice the polygonal lens (but this should be fixed in later versions [hint hint to the artist who made this]). I agree that the texturing could have been slightly more interesting, but I can’t honestly see how, other than making it glossier.
I wasn’t even going to bother trying this thing. The only reason I downloaded it was because it was said to have good sounds (I collect sounds). But I decided to try it, and to be honest, I was pleasantly surprised. The picture does not do this thing any justice.
I’m giving this thing a 6, but I’m a tough judge, so 6 is a good thing. This rating will likely increase with the release of successive versions of this model. There is much room for improvement.

I am giving this unique weapon a 8. I first got this weapon from a different site and have been useing it for awhile. Then low and behold boom here it is on this site. I redownloaded it and reinstalled it. I fell in love with the sound right away. My only problem with it is: Its a USMILIATARY weapon why is it on the T side? It would be great to see it as a AUG replacement.

Its not the best texture job, nor the right team, This should be a replacement for the AUG in my opinion, but it has a nice feel and the sounds arent half bad either. I rather like it despite its shortcomings, its worth trying out. I give it a 7.

Great skin, but i think it can be an AUG or FA-MAS for the CT's. This is, after all, and American Assault Rifle (in making).

Ok, dude, this is a great skin, I love the xm8. but, please, make a world Model! The G-Mod People would love this one! 7/10 no w/model makes this 7 instead of 10!

I just wanted to say that the XM8 is not a "experimential American assault rifle", it is a German weapon from H&K (Heckler & Koch), although the US Army is armed with it. I agree that the scope is not smooth enough, but who cares about the scope when the enemy in in front of you? The XM8 is one of my favourite guns, because the design is much better than the design of the G36 which needs getting used to.

Great step in the right direction my friend, to get my 10 however your going to need to fix a few things on it. Most of which, is covered in the other reviews.

I really like the XM8 as far as a reskin goes, as H&K weapons are in high demand right now. I am questioning the reasoning behind compiling it as an SG552 skin though. I think it would be better on the AUG. If it were compiled for the AUG and the texture and clipping problems were smoothed out it would be perfect. Still, some really nice work.
