We're finally ready to talk in more specific terms about the coming changes to Counter-Strike weapon prices.
Most of the weapons and equipment in Counter-Strike still have the same prices today as they did when the game was first released. We at Valve know we're not alone in thinking that some of the prices in the game have never been exactly what they should be. (Uh, night-vision?) But rather than tweaking the values ourselves, we thought we'd let you decide. Coming soon in Counter-Strike: Source is a new system that sets the prices of what you can buy based on, well, what people are buying. This means that each week all of the items in Counter-Strike will have different prices based on what people purchase. We've setup a webpage with more information on how it works, including what the prices will be when we turn this feature on.
There is a also big MOD release coming this Saturday, when the Eternal Silence team releases the first version of their game. We were lucky enough to have their team visit Valve HQ about a month ago and they let us play a pre-release version. The game centers around space combat between huge capital ships bristling with armor and weapons.
Lastly, earlier this week the Red Orchestra team released another significant update to their game, adding a new weapon among a number of other items. If you're interested, which you probably are, you may view the CS market site here:

Looking at the website it looks like most of the weapons will be decreasing in price. Shouldn't it be that about half go up in price and half go down?

No, it depends on how many times the weapon is bought that week. Its kinda like supply and demand implemented into CSS. I like it.

What does this have anything to do with the rest of the game and its bugs? I'd like to see you STFU.

cool now AWM is gonna get a high price

I too, like the Supply & Demand idea implemented here but what i do not like is the way they are removing the competitiveness of the most competitive game in the world.

I love it! This system is totally unique, and makes me want to forgive them for the new radar. This is pure genious!

IMHO this is a dumb idea, they should be concentrating on the gameplay and things they can do to make it a better game, this is a waste of time and the lack of support and new maps and crap like that is why i haven't even touched this game in 2 months. good job valve :|

Yes you're right, ѕқyғiя.
So if this week the ak is used a lot, next week I'm forced to pay more for using it? WTF?
Man that's insane! I want unchangeable prices!

"cool now AWM is gonna get a high price"
look again, its going down.
|
|
Posted by Crazy Asian256 |
Actually Schlumpfy, that's what 1.6 is for.
|
|
Posted by Schlumpfy |
I meant in series like. I know it's 1.6 that's the competitive one

Has anyone looked at the forums on steampowered? Its a mess every1 hates this update - but tbh, in the end i think valve will have the sense to manually change the prices if they become to ridiculus - so expect the popular guns to change by £200 - 300.
And for the record wot i think should change
AK up £200
M4 up £200
DE up £200
AWP up £500
Armour up £200 at most
Scout down £100
NV down £400
all other #### guns down by around £200 (more incentive to use them)

Of course everone hates it. Every update someone yells "VALVE MADE CSS HORRIBLE" and yet they still play it.

Sorry for double post but good news for those of you that don't want this: There will be a cvar so you can enable and disable the pricing
[qupte]There will be a cvar controlling this new functionality, mp_dynamicpricing, you can disable it if you wish by setting its value to 0.[/quote]

ah... i was worring about that since of competitive gaming... oh well..i have already quitted cs.. doesn't really matter..
|

Schlumpfy, were did u get that information? I doubt valve will implement this, allthough many of the 'pro' gamers have moaned about a cvar but i doubt thats true as i have not seen any offical confirmation about this altho i will double check before i point the finger...

hmmm seems your right, i appologise, (can never tell with all the bs sum forums come up with) the information comes via an email to another site, altho im still not sure if its 100% true but it does sound it.
TBH I hope this feature is used by the competitive players until valve finalises a complete price range THEN they should edit the prices permantly, this way the pubers get to experence the tinkered weapon prices every week while the competitive play prices only change once when everything has been finalised because the prices of certain things really do need changed

This is retarded...i dont want to sound repetitive, but this a really stupid idea..why arnt they focusing on new maps or even better yet NEW GUNS this is a waste of time and effort....touche valve...touche
|
|
Posted by 0R30 |
new guns would be a saviour, new maps though.... every1 remember last tym they made a ton of maps? who the ****** plays them, its all dust/2 office
seriously tho if they cant even add new weapons at least drop the prices on the crappy-er guns

one problem w/ supply and demand.
if it were real world, then wouldnt the price go down as more people buy it to increease its purchases? Thats how it works in the real world.
|
|
Posted by Crazy Asian256 |
No, if demand goes up, prices go up. Production goes up though, prices go down.

Dude Asian you are a retard. I was kidding first of all, all players whine about the hitboxes. Besides, the radar messed up the entire game didnt it? All it takes is one update to ****** everything up. Stop being a ******, we dont need another Rifleman, thanks.
|
|
Posted by Crazy Asian256 |
Actually, I could care less about the radar. I don't see how it made the game "suck," sure it may be for what you might think are noobs but it makes the game a bit more challenging. The "STFU" part was to the "Lets see how bad STEAM will mess this up." Like I've said in the forums...if you continue to play the game, I suggest you stop complaining or play somehting else. Now you can go asterisk yourself.

Really people need to grow up and stop these valve ar eruining cs posts and even go as far as making a petition.
You people are so stupid you can't tell the difference between a piece of software and a company.
