Day of Defeat: Source and Source Engine Updates
Posted by - 11 comments
Updates to Day of Defeat: Source and the Source Engine have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The specific changes include: Source Engine * Fixed some video cards being incorrectly set to DX9 when they should have been DX8. This would cause a significant performance problem for affected hardware * Changed refresh behavior of server browser. Old behavior was generating too much traffic when list was not open * Fixed bug where VAC would sometimes hold onto .dlls after a game had been shut down completely * Fixed a crash which could sometimes occur immediately after launching a game Day of Defeat: Source * Added the default mapcycle.txt to servers running Day of Defeat: Source * Fixed crash bug when using %s in your player name Source Dedicated Server * Fixed bug in dedicated server engine that incorrectly displayed their anti-cheat status (servers were showing as insecure, but were running in secure mode) Hopefully this patch will fix alot of the problems people have been having since the last patch. Wow peter stfu i think next time valve should not release any patches there will slways be some ungrateful ******.
Yeah really, atleast they fix their problems unlike 99% of developers. Battlefield 2 and Dawn of War both have outstanding errors that the dev teams have taken weeks even months to address.

i was fine with cs:s as it was, i didnt ask for a patch

Well STFU we couldnt have dods

Peter, they constantly update the games to make them better for us. Deal with it, or don't play them!

i dont care about dods and i havent seen any improvement in my cs so i dont play them anymore

I can contend with the "better for us" part. The game was running the best around the release date. I never remember having reg problems or anything like that in the first few months of playing the game. Can't say the same anymore. To top that off they've delayed that model and map update for ages now. I barely remember what that model looks like considering how long ago it was.

well, i wish more games were like valve's (updating wise) i mean, most games take weeks or months (like milkman had already said) but vale at least tries to fix the problems as soon as they find them.

or sometimes you get no update at all. the problems i encountered were easy to fix and also meant i got to play DoD:S which is pretty ****** sweet and there was plenty support from other users here and on valves forum so no complaints here
