Well, 2 small news items, but both worth noting never the less!

Steam News
Valve released some news via steam last week regarding it's latest venture through Ritual.... Sin Episodes is set to be delivered via Valve's Steam system.
  • This week Ritual announced Sin Episodes, in development on Source that will be distributed via Steam. This is exciting for us here at Valve as we've always envisioned Steam being a way for other game developers to put games in front of customers, and over the next year we'd like to have a number of new games for you all to try out. You can get more information about Sin Episodes over at the official website, and we'll be including more information here as Ritual approaches release of the first episode later this year.
A very useful CVAR for disabling server sounds
Who else gets annoyed when you have to download a load of stupid sounds like: "monster kill!" just to play on a server... well now you don't have to!
Just use this cvar, and your CS: Source Client will not download them!
  • cl_downloadfilter "nosounds"
