I'm afraid you will not even be able to run CS1.6 or other CS versions with that set up. It will run horribly slow.
CS requirements
QUOTE
Minimum: 500 mhz processor, 96mb ram, 16mb video card, Windows 2000/XP, Mouse, Keyboard, Internet Connection
Recommended: 800 mhz processor, 128mb ram, 32mb+ video card, Windows 2000/XP, Mouse, Keyboard, Internet Connection
CSS requirements
QUOTE
Minimum: 1.2 GHz Processor, 256MB RAM, DirectX 7 level graphics card, Windows 2000/XP, Mouse, Keyboard, Internet Connection
Recommended: 2.4 GHz Processor, 512MB RAM, DirectX 9 level graphics card, Windows 2000/XP, Mouse, Keyboard, Internet Connection
Come on, that was a stupid question...can it run cs1.6 and css. Hell yes it can.
It is a good build very similar to mine.
Also how much are you paying for this?

Thats kind of pricey. I think thats $1700 USD ish. Theres no real need for 4GB of RAM or a quad core processor. Especially if you're going to use a Windows operating system, XP or Vista. XP can only support like 3.2 GB of RAM, and Vista will find some stupid ass reason to use all your RAM and CPU for nothing. A lot of game engines aren't even optimized to support more than 2 cores anyway, according to my computer-engineering friends. And if you have to pick between XP and Vista, get XP, because Vista will ruin your overall experience and hardware performance.

Well, if you want to spend that kind of money, be my guest. I gave you my advice. I always try to find a compromise between cost and power.

Quad will future-proof you. A lot of games will support them soon, some already do. They're not THAT much more expensive than equivalent Duos anyway. Also, go XP, and ditch that 4GB RAM because it's overkill.
And it seems expensive to you Yankees because most components cost more in Europe.

I would like to say your wrong on that, it don't eat up all your ram and cpu..
But maybe it is just my pc.
Right now my CPU use is 4% and my memory is at 30% use..and it rarely gets above that inless i open up a video game or something. (This is just using WMP, Firefox with a few tabs, Xfire, MSN, and my other little programs running).

XP can have more than 3.25GB of RAM when in x64 flavour, and Vista really isn't that bad if you've taken the time to sort it out, at the moment I'd get one of the new Penryns rather than the Q6600 or at least wait until the new quads are out.

The RAM is a lower spec so I'd get the 800Mhz stuff but only 2GB of it, the Graphics card is 100x worse than the other one as well, the 8800 in the original spec is easily twice as fast ad the 8600 you are getting, which btw you'd be better off getting the 256MB one because the 512MB will be useless on a 128bit Memory Bus, the Audio is better on the second build but not by much and the second one doesn't have firewire though you may not use that.

30% of 4 gigs of RAM being used on a 64 bit OS when its idle? The slightest performance enthusiast would shit themselves if they saw that. I've got 2 gigs on XP with only 13% RAM and 0% CPU being used while its idle. Booyakasha
If you want to get technical about what PC specs you want Sparco, you'd probably be best off talking to Elanzer or Rifleman.

That's why.
Also the last 'non-experienced' person I gave buying advice to proceeded to get all his bits only to attempt forcible insertion of the CPU into its socket, bending or tearing out all the pins. Everything Sparco needs to know is already in reply #7 and #11.

What the fuck? He tried to force the cpu in the socket? I mean wouldn't common sense say "Hey jimmy now their is no way in hell that will fit, maybe you should let off for a bit."
