Right so I'v installed a skin exactly the way the site says to and have read the faq and i think the skins installed correctly but when i open cs and start playing the weapon is exactly the same as normal.
Anyone have any ideas where i might be going wrong? Like do you have to enable them or what.
Cheers

I have this exact same problem. The skin files are exactly where they should be on mine, and yet they don't seem to register with CS. I don't see what the problem would be, but there must be one because I'm still using the default skins. Is there some option that I have to check in the options menu? Is it Vista =P? There must be something we've overlooked.

I'm no expert, dont flame me if I'm wrong, but I think the skins you are trying to use might be outdated. CSS updates automatically from time to time. Maybe they changed something with one of those updates that prevents the skin from being used anymore?

El might be able to clarify but i've had trouble with this site ever since it was sold, some of the skins have just stopped working and some of them are corrupted. Try skins from FPSBanana.com and see if they work, if they dont, post links to them.

K top few tips.

Make sure the directory is intact. I.E. Check all the files are in the right place. Right click them and find out the date created. If it reflects your time of skin instillation, move on.

Check other skins work. Download a skin from CSDL since I know they're good quality ([/suckup]) and test it. Read FAQ for instillation help / my guide. If that works, then good. Else the problems lie even deeper... <Insert dramatic music>

You do have the right model, don't you? 'Cause sometimes people say it's an AK model and mean Galil, etc.

Make sure that it OVERWRITES all the files. Vista can be a fag with this since it gives you about 4 pop ups and 4 different options. Check the box that says "Apply to all conflictions/actions/something" and click "Copy and replace". If you use XP click "Yes to all" when it asks about overwriting.
(So answer to N3rday is that it isn't Vista, since I run Vista Home Premium fine with it)

As Minotaur said, check the skins. Also make sure they're for Counter Strike Source or just normal counter strike. It seems a newbie error, but lots of people refer to CSS as just CS.

Skin activation is automatic. Very simply, you double click CS:S. Computer says "Rite kk noob wants to go get pwnt. K lets load his guns. Rite where the p90 model... duh duh duh... v_smg_p90.mdl! Foundedededed it! wewt. Right so now the vtx's.... w00t found 'em! k now the textures. yay done! now onto usp..." This all happens very fast, but basically compooter just finds the file called "v_smg_p90.mdl" in your models/weapons folder and loads it. Regardless of what's in it. (As long as it's a compatible model, not say a word document)
