Hopefully it'll be as fun as BF2 was for me, but I hope the addiction might last longer than 2 months.

Yay, I was about to start playing bf2 again. We can do squads like we used to.
Well at least we did in 2142.

They were bad . I hope they improve the team play and make it objective based . You know something like quake wars

Have you ever played quake wars ET ? Because no BF 2 never had any thing objective based like that . Don't make me write long posts because i'm using my mobile phone keypad for now .

Quake Wars' objective system is great, but (unless it changed since last time I played it) it isn't tied to squads so it's pointless bringing it up really as anyone alone on a team can make use of it. Also, the squad system it does use is ultimately as pointless as BF2's and only serves to highlight where your buddies that are in the squad are and not much else.
The best squad system I've seen in an FPS is again, BF2142. But I'm not sure why that opinion is so unpopular with everyone else.

Squad leader gets extra points for following commanders orders, members get extra points for following squad leader's orders, those extra points also go toward allowing the squad special squad items and temporary field unlocks such as placeable spawn beacons so if the leader dies like he always does the squad doesnt get seperated or sent back to a main spawn. Squad members also get bonus points for assisting other squad members, reviving, healing, resupplying, kill assisting, spotting, etc.
All things BF2 lacks.

Its actual motivation/reasoning to fight as a team, now I really hope it turns out good.

BF2 was a ******ing free for all. Just take care of yourself and you good. Should of been just a FFA game mode.

It really was, even though I'd try and find people in servers that were working as a group and follow/stick with them. I'd also join squads with people that were in clans, since they tended to function in groups as well. Coordinated teamplay was optional really, but its nice to see that they're attempting to make teamplay more essential to playing and winning the game now.

just a quick question, how do they get rid of patches, they still have to update... Is it likely to come out on any consoles?

Oct 18 2007, 12:06 PM
It says... an inbuilt updater. As in, you log in, it downloads any update you need automatically, you restart the game, done.

You tell me, I never made any. Presumably because it's quicker and you don't have to faff around on gaming sites finding out what version you have, what version you need, incremental or full, etc. And this is presuming any of this is accurate by the way...

Hopefully the updater will keep EA away from the 500mb patches and also, if they dont do a Divo.net, let you DL the latest patch at good speed and when it comes out.
I liked the demo video of the physics of this new engine, and the textures didnt look bad: might be a good purchase.

no, its following the four guys from the first game, new mission yada yada, the major flaw with BC was once you killed the enemies, no new enemies spawned
which leaves a stale taste in my mouth. Unlike call of duty where you finally move up a bit and kill abunch of guys then rush to far up and run into 6 guys. (i prefer the latter)
the MP was alright but it just didn't feel like battlefield. That could have been because of the frostbite engine?!? idk, the engine was good and destroying walls to make a quick door
was quite handy. As buggy as battlefield 2 was, i still prefer it to all, it was fun and i had alot of fun playing it.
Battlefield 1943 is going to be on PC/360/PS3, I'm quite skeptical on this, just a MP game should be on PC. EA slow the fuck down and stop putting quantity first before QUALITY

Oh wow, you're right:
QUOTE
° Available on Xbox Live, Playstation Network, and PC download (no cross-platform multiplayer)
° Gameplay wise more like Bad Company
° Pricing similar to most high profile Xbox Live Arcade games (Currently 1200 MS Points = $15)
° 350 MB download on Xbox Live
° Max 24 players
° 2 armies - US Marines & Japanese Imperial Army
° Conquest game mode only
° Ability to level up, but not to unlock new weapons or abilities
° 3 maps with 5 capture points each
° 3 classes - Infantry, Riflemen, and Scout
° Auto health & replenished ammo
It's quite literally an XBLA game. Count me out. I'll wait for the real Battlefield 3.

That's what I thought at first ,but no, it's only a mini MP game with 3 maps and no bot support, and it's limited to 24 players max.
the name is clever though ,but unfortunately that's the only thing clever about this game.

QUOTE
Battlefield 3 was confirmed today during a presentation at the William Blair Growth Stock Conference by Electronic Arts chief operating office John Pleasants. "I've had the luxury of looking at Battlefield 3 over at DICE in Sweden and was highly impressed by the way the team is working on that product," they quote him as saying. "Of course, that's not [coming out] in the fiscal year, but that is a product that is looking very good."
