Thanks guys, I like em too.

Dog454,
As I said in my original post the hostages share clothes. Putting blood or anything else on the shirts and it just looks retarded because everyone has the same wounds. Between four hostages there are two shirts. We originally had a nice ripped shirt with a bloody forearm and while it looked great it just didn't fit when you saw all four hostages together or even two of the same. The only way to make different hostages is to affect only the faces.

great work, but can't you just reskin the shirt on one of them slightly? then they will be different, then not retarded, or will both shirts automatically use that skin?

How great would that be spawning as a T on italy and one of the hostages takes out your whole team with a paper clip, the ct's standing there scratching their helmets in confusion.

What's with the stupid way to ask a question? Act childish much?
Anyways, it is the gaming community that we belong to and the reason we made the hostages. I put it on the back so that it isn't that invasive but still there. I thought it looked pretty good. Honestly I don't understand how a logo on the back of a shirt could make someone feel retarded but hey, you can't please everyone right? A lot of work went into the project, will you really begrudge me one little blurb about home on the internet? It isn't like it is a url or something.
On a more positive note I want to give a big thanks to those who have said nice things about the skins.

Unfortunately they share two shirts and share hands so we couldn't do as much as we wanted without everyone looking like clones but here is what we did get done.
Should be able to give each of them different skins considering they are all individual models. Have you tried decompiling the hostage models and editing the qc to a different path for the hostage_sheet file? From what I remember it should work as long as edits to the hostage model files are allowed.

Yeah, you could edit the .vmt's as well I think.

Nice!! Definitely a favorable touch to the atmosphere of the game.
I'd add some dirt and wrinkles on their clothes and possibly some blood, as well. Heck maybe a few sweat stains wouldn't be too far!
If you do that I'd put on a new voice set like you were thinking.
Please understand why some people don't like the logo on the back of the shirts. The entire purpose of the skin was to add a more realistic element to the game, correct? Adding a gaming website logo on the back of the shirt of a hostage kind of took away the point of the skin, which might be why some people don't like the logo.
Of course, adding in something like a real black tee with the logo on the back isn't as bad, especially if it's based off of a real T-shirt design available on the website. Then it would be realistic - but a little extra in a way.
just something to think about

nice job on the skin!

You guys are giving some great feedback and some things for me to look into for another release that focuses on the clothes and other body parts. I don't know how to do any of the things mentioned but then again I didn't know how to skin before I started the project. Does anyone know of some good tutorials I can look into for this or just something to point me in the right direction?

I do understand completely, it was the way that guy presented himself that rubbed me the wrong way. You guys could of course look at it as them being employees of the gamer planet rather than some random logo thrown on there.

What sort of tutorials would you want? If you want to try that thing I suggested it'd involve decompiling the model and learning a bit about the qc and vmt files. TBH I can't think of any good tutorials about the files but most of the things in them can be worked out. A decompiling tutorial is
here if you want to try it. Would need to do recompiling as well at the end but there is a compiler on the same site as the decompiler. I'd imagine decompiling 2 of the hostage models with different shirts and then changing the link to a different hostage_sheet.vmt file would work, then change the vmt to link to a different vtf. I know that isn't a particularly great description but can't really think of how to word it without trying it first (don't really know whether it will work).

Thanks Mr. Selleck,
You have done your mustache proud.

Hopefully I can find a way to do what you guys have suggested. It is after all how I wanted to do them from the beginning. If I can match the quality of work already done it should make for a nice second release.
Now I just wish I could get this in the regular downloads so I could get an idea of how many are downloading them.

Tried doing it but it seems that every time I go back to use the compiler there is a new error. In theory I can't see why the plan wouldn't work but the SDK seems to get new bugs all the time which makes doing it pretty hard. I'll try again and see what happens anyway, usually a way around the problems.

By the way, for adding things like dirt/scratches to the shirts - if you are using Photoshop - the key is
layers, layers, layers!
Add new layers and use custom brush sets to add dirt smudges. Change the properties of the layers to things such as "Overlay," "Hard Light," "Soft Light," etc. and adjust the opacity of each individual layer until you find something that resembles stains of dirt, sweat, blood, etc.
Sometimes a combination of layers are required to suit your need.
If you can find a website or e-mail for me I'd be happy to send you a brush set I found on SourceBlog that is perfect for metals and dirts.
