Well this is the thread where you want to talk about older games (like stuff from few years ago, 5 years ago, 10 years ago, etc.) without cluttering the forums with more threads.

This generation, I haven't seen it much, but I remember last gen where you could go to a video game store that also has used games and you could find some really cool games for like $15 or less, even games you've never heard of, but you picked it up anyways 'cause it looked good and it was cheap. This generation it seems the only games under $15 are sports games.

Well yesterday, I picked up Splinter Cell Double Agent for 360 for $12. I had rented it a LONG time ago when it came out had some fun with it online with Guns and Shifty (when he used to be active). The single player was okay, I still think that Chaos Theory is the best Splinter Cell to date, but Conviction is looking really good.

Just wondering, does anyone on these boards actually have this game? Was wanting to do some MP or co-op.

WHY DOES THAT LOOK LIKE COPYPASTA.

Well, anyways, I was thinking about old games a little while ago and remembered Red Faction and when I rented it for PS2. Only place I could find it was a tiny little obscure torrent and it took god damn years to finish, but alas, it finished and GOD DAMN IT'S SUCH A MEDIOCRE SHOOTER. I remember it being so good. Oh well.

Oh yeah, and I've been playing D2 a lot lately, although it's still popular as hell on battle.net.

RECOMMEND ME SOME OLD GAMES TO PLAY, CITIZENS

I had Double Agent a long time ago. Had it up until the point where I had to do something "bad" and it caused my NSA trust meter to go down and end my game. It sucked because it was something that was necessary to advance the plot. I did play online a lot though, I wasn't expecting it to be that fun at the time and I really had a blast with it.

As for other games that I've bought in the past... I went through that time when I went back to my N64 because I needed something fun to do, and always bought the games that were like two bucks or something. Conker's Bad Fur Day, Pokemon Snap, GoldenEye, Diddy Kong Racing. I usually just got the best games of my childhood and replayed them. I still have all those games and my N64 console... I should hook that up some time.

Lol, yeah. But when I was younger, any game that had guns and blood was good. BUT RED FACTION WAS DIFFERENT! YOU COULD BLOW HOLES INTO WALLS and that was awesome.

SPLINTER CELL: "CONVECTION"? "CONQUER'S" BAD FUR DAY? WHAT IS THIS?

Anyway I'm a long time fan of the Splinter Cell series, was on the bandwagon before the original was even released. Got all of them... apart from Double Agent, I thought the series went downhill with that. Conviction is looking like it may redeem it though.

Hardly retro, but then again neither is Splinter Cell so eh... The oldest game I've been replaying lately is KOTOR2 for the nth time, as a mod restoring cut content was released recently. Replayed Fahrenheit a while back too (I'm bummed the successor is only on PS3 thus far, but it's looking a bit iffy anyway). Both brilliant.

Red Faction produced so many good memories. When I was 11 or 12 me and five or six other friends would grab a multi-tap for the PS2 and play for hours. That game was damn fun in multiplayer.

That also reminds me of a game for the PS2, the plot was that the Soviets "won" the Cold War and invaded the US and started taking over everything. I can't remember the name. Anyway me, my brother and friends used to play that for hours.

It's all rushing back to me.

And yeah El I thought I spelled it wrong, could not remember for the life of me.

YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO TELL ME WHEN IT WAS RELEASED!
KingTut
Grim Fandango/Abe series/Day of the Tentacle/Silent Hill 2 (I played the PC port-worked well enough)/Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of The Earth (a flawed masterpiece)/System Shock series/The Neverhood/Baldur's Gate 2/Fallout 1 (and if you feel masochistic play 2 or tactics)

That should tide you over for a while.
Elanzer
Technically that mod still isn't out. But it's taken so long another one came along.
KingTut
I was told to stick to KOTOR 1, was this incorrect information?
WolfXI
Oh man, Abe's Oddysee and Exoddus are fucking brilliant. I remember seeing them on Steam bundled for something like $4. Must pick up.

No. KOTOR2 has its flaws as a result of being rushed (cut content, unpolished visuals) ... But the improved RPG system and darker atmosphere, plot, characters more than make up for it.

Fuck yo spinta cellz

I'll be honest. I've never played a Metal Gear game.

NOW I WANT TO PLAY SPYRO THE DRAGON AND CRASH BANDICOOT THOUGH. :<

I have, back in the day when I had my PS2 that I only ended up buying a whopping 3 (or was it 2?) games for. And yet I still got MGS2 for the Xbox. Batshit crazy plot put me off either way.

Also you haven't played all of those recently Shaun.

Maybe it's just me going senile but if you re-read the first few posts of the thread, people seem to be only discussing old games they've played recently.

If it is just spouting any game we've played in the past I'll just be done with it and go with my first game I ever played at a mere 2 years of age which was Super Mario on the NES. For the record, I haven't played it in nearly 20 years.
skyfire
I played kid icarus on my brothers virtual console on the Wii on the weekend and had alot of fun.
haven't played that game since the late 80's/early 90's. also played some castlevania 3 dracula's curse.
good times were had!
Guns For Sale
Well i modded my PSP with custom firmware and other plugins so i can play PS1 games on it.
I've been playing Resident Evil 1, 2 and 3. Along with that i got Parasite Eve on it, FF7. I need to get MGS 1 on it.

I also haven't had a chance to get DOOM and Duke nukem on it. And once a stable and decent N64 emulator comes out for it ill be playing conkers bad fur day and golden eye. And if i ever get internet back on my main rig i'll get a gameboy emulator and play some pokemon.

The oldest game i remember playing was Hexen, Doom, and duke nukem. Then the first game i ever pirated/bootlegged was HL1. And i got that from my dads friend.
ninedice
aaahh. how dare you remind me of pokemon?! now i will never pass my classes! aaaaahhhhhh
fuck, need to stop reading this thread...

Yes, Shaun...talk, as in, discuss...not just throw out a few pictures...
Shaun
Still, there were no rules regarding last playtimes.

I bum all of those games. Especially Pokemon.
It made my friend short sighted to the point of him not being able to see past arms length without glasses.
I captured a mewtwo and a legendary bird thing.
THIS IS ME DISCUSSING.
KingTut
I'm replaying Baldurs Gate 2, DREEM SEQUENCEZ GUYZ.

And as a side note, I am really pissed off that I couldn't get either Thief or Thief 2 to run on vista. Will try it on my xp once rage has subsided.
