So now that I've got my new rig setup I'd like some suggestions on games to buy. I know I'm going to get DoW II and probably Empire: Total War and maybe even Demigod. What else should I look into? No ArmA II for me thanks but other suggestions will be wildly appreciated. I alreayd have CoH which I'll play more once I get my new computer because it won't lag like hell every time I try to drag-select units/scroll the screen.

Anyway, just looking for suggestions and if you guys have any idea as to how to get them on the cheap that would be great, too.

There's not much out right now. The next wave of titles, L4D2 among other things, is coming in the autumn.

In other words a perfect time to catch up on things you've missed. So I'll happily play DoW2 and ETW with you as nobody else bothered getting them and the few that did won't play with me. Heathens.

I'll play smile.gif. I've missed a LOT, though, so even if it's really old don't hesitate to recommend. My computer can't play anything beyond games from 2003 reliably so pretty much whatever you think is good works for me smile.gif.

[EDIT]

Thoughts on Titan Quest/STALKER?
Elanzer
Titan Quest? I'd never even heard of it so looked it up... Good god man what were you thinking. Last I heard of Iron Lore was the disaster that was DoW: Soulstorm.

How about Crysis:Warhead? The Witcher?

Do I need Crysis to play Warhead? The Witcher sounds like a fun investment, I'll check it out. What settings could I run a game like crysis on?
Elanzer
You should just be able to wing it all on high, failing that medium/high for sure.

Get stalker for sure.

Get both if you can. Stalker (The first one) is awesome with mods, stalker clear sky is just a whole different game, i really liked it, but i never got to finishing it.

Ok, so games I'm most likely getting:

-DoW 2
-Demigod
-Sins of a Solar Empire
-The Witcher
-Crysis: Warhead
-STALKER
Elanzer
Wouldn't bother with Demigod or STALKER myself.

Getting MW2 on my xbox if I get it. I'm thinking I might not get STALKER, all my friends who have Demigod say it's a lot of fun and I really like games like that so I think it's on my "for sure" list. I guess Sins, DoW2 and the Witcher are, too. I really want a good PC RPG. I'm not sure I'm gonna bother with Crysis: Warhead just because I feel like I already have SO many FPS titles.
Elanzer
Just keep in mind the Witcher is a big time sink. Fetchquests etc almost feels like an MMO sometimes. However it does have a great, long, sometimes quite 'adult' story, loads of significant choices. It's not so much a 'true RPG' though as a 'tactical hack & slash with skill points', ala Mass Effect.

If you're going to get STALKER get the first game (expansions are disappointments) and be prepared to patch the hell out of it.

Ok, thanks for the advice.

I've decided to get Sins of a Solar Empire, Empire: Total War, Dawn of War 2 and Demigod. I really miss strategy-type games and I think these all fall under that category whilst each bringing something uniqe to the genre. I'll also have CoH and a few others to fall back on.

I decided against getting the others due to budget and because I don't think I'll have enough time to commit to a game like The Witcher when school starts and because I've heard that STALKER can sometimes be buggy to the point of EXTREME DISCOMFORT. Basically I don't want to have to bother with fixing up these games right when I get them. I'll do that once I've become more used to playing games on a PC again and so forth.

Does anyone here have Demigod?

El, I really want to play DoW 2 with you, are you up for it once I get everything going?
Elanzer
For sure, I'm always up for DoW2 but I have nobody to play with since Sorrow stopped playing it. Also once you ave DoW2 there's not much point going back to CoH, at least from a pvp perspective.

Ok well then I look forward to DoW 2-ing with you in a month or so. BTW, how does Empire: Total War MP work?
Elanzer
As much as I love the game, the multiplayer is very simplistic. It's the usual TW affair - Either a land, sea, or siege battle where players are given a number of points to buy their armies with beforehand, then fight to the death/retreat/capture.

However there's multiplayer campaign being worked on that will apparently be opening for testing soon. If it's like I'm imagining it will be immense.

I'll play it with you. I have all my carts lined up and I'm going to start buying ASAP.
KingTut
So I got orange box finally and sins of a solar empire. I reckon that I will have no trouble finding TF2 partners but Sins? This is all in vain hope that I can convince the IT department that I need more powerful internets.

DOW II and E:TW are down the line. When I can be assured of better connections.
Elanzer
I heard Sins is good but I never gave it much of a look.

The Sins campaign is virtually nonexistent. It's a lot of fun singleplayer, but it's not really all that story driven. Most people who have the game play it online all the time. Be warned though, I hear the shortest of games can range from 2-3 hours where longer ones can take up more than a day.

I can't wait!

Just picked up Demigod. Loads of fun, if anyone has it/wants to play, let me know.
KingTut
What are your current games based on the list you revised now?

CSS
CoH
DoW II
Demigod
C&C 3

You were right about C&C. I installed then immediately uninstalled.
KingTut
I am only slightly heartbroken you got demigod over sins. But I haven't bothered with the multiplayer for Sins so you are forgiven. How much did you pay for C&C 3?
Elanzer
I told him C&C was a mistake.

I TOLD YOU.
KingTut
Wait, did you get THE C&C 3? Where they value FMVs over the actual game?
WolfXI
BAHAHA.
