http://modernwarfare2.infinityward.com/the offical teaser is out so let the discussion begin.
CODE
The IGF/GDCAs are over, but they left us with the taste of shooting dudes in our mouth, courtesy of a trailer that provided our first look at Modern Warfare 2. What did we think? Well, the last one was one of our favorite games ever, so we're pretty much ready to cast our arms akimbo and hold it forever and ever. Are we alone on this one? You'll have to check the video to judge for yourself. The lack of Call of Duty branding is pretty weird though. Infinity Ward tells us they're still figuring it out.
Also: It's coming Nov. 10! Freak out!
P.S. Robert Bowling tells us that you should scrub through the trailer for more details. So do that.

taken from another site, they say its perks

looks like Rio De Janeiro

Airfield

Possibly a F22 bombimg a snow covered place???

Definitely perks on that first shot. You can see Deep Impact and what looks like a Sprinting perk of some kind. The third one looks like two swords clashing, so I'm not really sure what that could mean. Fourth, I can barely see the shape of a diamond; not sure on that one either. Second screenshot, not so sure, but it's a possibility.
Also, what did he say when they got to the bottom? I heard "Remember, they're Russian" or something along those lines. Terrorists looking to just shoot up Russians and start a revolution or something? I'm just guessing because that's what I heard in the trailer.

Mar 26 2009, 04:44 AM
I hear "remember, no Russian.", so they might be Russian terrorists infiltrating a place in America or something?

The airfield I mentioned earlier.
The_Sorrow
Mar 26 2009, 04:53 AM
That could be it. It would help to hear some conversations of nearby people in whatever public setting they're in. That seems like a good bet though.
Side note, I remember seeing a statue like the one in the screenshot in Behind Enemy Lines. Bad thing to compare to, but I remember the scene at the end when he's running away from the Russians and they're next to a statue just like that one.
Something to think about. The only thing that's swaying me from that thought is what looks to be a palm tree to the right. Or maybe it's just regular trees.
Double edit, it's not in Russia. I found the picture and it's this:

Your first pick may be right Sky.

Mar 26 2009, 05:06 AM
yea it does look like a palm tree now that you mention it, could be wrong tho.

i see a Submarine and a Helicopter and a solider.

looks like a oil rig and a town of some sorts??
and the crowd noise i heard sounded like a public transport station of some sorts (airport or a subway???)

i see a downed solider with a helicopter on the way, a few battleships and the backside of a boat
The_Sorrow
Mar 26 2009, 05:16 AM
Looks like a shantytown of sorts to me. Rio de Janeiro looks a lot more possible if it is. And yes, oil rig or a large helicopter landing platform, but most likely the former.
I'm guessing an airport in the trailer. I haven't been in an airport in over 10 years, but do they have elevators? Serious question, because that's a big factor. If they don't, I'm guessing a large shopping mall area or something like that.
skyfire
Mar 26 2009, 05:23 AM
yea i was also thinking of a shopping mall maybe.

I'm pretty sure it's Rio. I dunno but all the fellatio the 1st one got from the games media makes me want to pick this one up when it arrives. Could be South American drug lords/terroristas and Russians playing if they decided to go with the 2 perspectives again.
skyfire
Mar 26 2009, 01:50 PM
yea it really looks like Rio

underwater???
oh and at 0:19 - You can clearly hear the word “Subway”
0:22 - “Attention customers, Do not leave bags unattended”
1:52 - Russian is spoken. “God is with us” and “A revolution is not possible without a revolutionary situation.” <---quote from Lenin

I heard rumors that it was going to be a zombie game. The rumors sound ridiculous, but I thought I'd report.

Source? Because it might have a zombie multiplayer like WaW (which I could believe) but being a zombie game, I don't believe that for a second.

It won't be about zombies - not only because the idea is just plain ridiculous for a gamed titled MODERN WARFARE, but because this teaser clearly makes no mention of them. If they are in they'll just be a game mode like in WaW, though hopefully they'd go with a slightly more suitable equivalent by replacing the zombies with arabs/russians/koreans/pakistanis whoever gets to be terrorists this time round. Christ knows they're just as swarmy and braindead according to CoD.
Also speculating is silly, the plot will be nothing more than KILL TERRORISTS HURR and have no links to the previous game seeming the characters were all shamelessly killed off, and the multiplayer will be the same old I HAS XMEN ABILITY SUPERFASTRELOAD NORECOIL FASTSHOOTINGMINIGUNFINGERS LETSPUTASIELNCERONMYSHOTGUN.
I'm angry because I just read the devs released a SENTENCE of totally innocuous and irrelevant radio chatter from the game, expecting the community to go apeshit and analyse it to the very letter as if it were from Bungie about Halo 4. Protip: Don't, you won't find anything, they're just cockrings trying to generate hype.
The_Sorrow
Mar 26 2009, 08:57 PM
Talking about the teddy bear, I think there's a teddy bear that does some special shit in the new zombie map that was just released for WaW, so it could just be showing it from a separate game mode like you guys suggested.

It was more of a official announcement then a teaser, and by and large teasers are shit regardless often not showing any actual gameplay. And the internet gaming press is having a field day of the lack of the "Call of Duty" on it.

Just a note. The teddy bear in the teaser appears in that one mission in CoD 4 where you start out on the highway and then go into the broken down building with night vision on and lasers flashing everywhere from the tips of people's guns. It's just lying on the floor in one of the upstairs rooms. I saw it on my most recent playthrough.

I hope they do, an option to disable mirrored weapons for one. Such extreme balancing has no place in anything but competitive play. Won't happen though.
Guess we should just wait for the 'PREMEER' on the 'eastern conference finals', whatever the fuck they are.

QUOTE
Modern Warfare 2 is set several years after the conclusion of Call of Duty 4. Sergeant "Soap" MacTavish will return as a non-playable character, and has been promoted to captain in the Special Air Service.
MacTavish will lead an elite, multinational commando unit, Task Force 141, to counter a new Russian terrorist organization on the rise. The new group is led by Makarov, a former associate of Imran Zakhaev with his own nationalistic ambitions. Makarov has been portraying Zakhaev's death as an act of martyrdom to garner support for his cause, and has built a strong power base in Russia over the years. In response to the threat posed by Makarov, the global community established Task Force 141 to stop him. Mission settings include the mountains of Russia, a desert in Afghanistan, and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

HURDR HOW DOES I SHOT FOREGRIP

I'm probably looking forward to the game now more than a month ago, but that's not saying too much. It all seems a bit repetitive, same story as CoD4, same kind of environments, the only big new thing seems to be more vehicle sequences... These trailers aren't exciting me like they should be, and the shoddy production value of this trailer like showing close ups of a foregripped gun using the wrong animations and leaving a 'CHECKPOINT SAVED' in one of the scenes there isn't exactly helping my opinion along.

Activision and Infinity Ward have decided it's best to call their upcoming game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 after all, and not just Modern Warfare 2.
At the time of the game's announcement, the duo claimed that Modern Warfare was big enough to stand on its own 10 million feet, and refrained from prefixing it with its traditional series moniker.
But having sent out box artwork with the Call of Duty name firmly in place this week, a spokesperson told Joystiq: "Infinity Ward, the original creators of the Call of Duty franchise, has said from the beginning Modern Warfare 2 resides in the Call of Duty universe. This is reflected in the title's package."

A bit gimmicky, I heard they're cheapo Chinese ones, so probably not much more effective than what you'd find on a video camera with night mode.
But then again people (GUNSLOL) were perfectly willing to pay just as much for a shitty 4:1 Masterchief helmet, so I wouldn't be surprised if this was a roaring success.

But no fucking way if I'll be spending money on a pair that comes with a game. Must be shit.

Lol, i like to collect things like that. =/ Nothing wrong with that.
I mean i got what they call got Night owl optics. It is real night vision, and fairly expensive. Thxs gov't for letting me have them. My dad used them on stakes out/ops when he was a criminal investigator.
but these like you said are nothing more then some led lights and some green film. Sure they look pretty cool. Comes with some nice stuff. But em i dunno. However the only thing i do like is how you can display them. But i'll really have to think about it. If anything ill just get the hardened edition.
