Hey guys,

Just wondering... The 360, PS3 and Wii have been out for a while now. I know that this many years after the release of the last generation of consoles we were hearing news about plans for the current generation, but this time around I have yet to hear anything. I'm just curious as to what you guys know might be coming up next. I'm perfectly happy with my 360 and Wii, and if this generation sticks around for a while that's fine by me. You all tend to know a little more about development plans than I do... Got anything interesting?

It is surprising how it's gone so fast, but they've still got plenty of life left in them. I'd give it another year maybe two before they start showing their age and the hype machine for the next gen comes into full swing. Maybe a little less until we start hearing news on the next systems.

I was laughing the other day reading yet another 360 vs PS3 thread (believe it or not, they still go on), and some morons still think 'when the PS3 is properly released' it will 'dominate' the 360 once and for all. I guess they forgot it's already been 2.5 years and it's still #2.

A couple months back I read that Microsoft was planning to stick with the 360 "for some time". I think we will get roughly 5 years or more out of the console.
Elanzer
Oh it'll definitely last that long, I mean the original Xbox is only now expiring. But it'll only be half that before we start hearing rumours for the next platform.

Yeah, I like seeing how at least companies are really standing by their consoles this time. Last generation only lasted what, 3-4 years?
WolfXI
Five years, if I remember correctly.

PS2 and the rest of it's generation was released in November, 2000, and the 360 and it's generation was released in November, 2005.

Ah... Longer than I remember, but I was just a wee lad when those things came out. Anyway, just seems to me like these are getting more support/life. El's right though, time flies.

Gameboy WILL make a comeback..

Do want 3D pokemon red/blue.

I hope Gameboy makes a comeback actually. The PSP has pitifully too few games and the DS is just... Not... Fun. I love Gameboy and the Pokemon games for at least the first 5 games.
KingTut
There is a certain wiiesque feel to the DS game selection from my lazy perusals. It is ridiculously popular however.
ninedice
you can always emulate a gameboy on your pc, smile.gif i have red blue and yellow on a flash drive in case school gets boring haha
Shaun
yeah i've got leaf green or whatever it is on emulator.
I want a 3d version though sad.gif

I found my gameboy (the original big old grey one) when I was moving recently. Surprised the batteries still worked, I started it up and played power rangers for about 3 hours.

It was that good.

just goes to you show, graphics aren't everything smile.gif

I never had a big grey one, but i did have one of the early GBC it was purple and see through. And funny thing was i just found it the other day and it still works like a charm after years of fucking abuse. I used that thing everyday when i was young. I had to take 30-40 (that is one way) min bus rides when i lived in italy, and EVERYONE had one, we would do pokemon duels on the bus and stuff. good times good times.
The_Sorrow
The nostalgia... it's all rushing back to me. IT HURTS SO GOOD

I miss good Pokemon games so much, had red/yellow versions on my green GameBoy Colour and it was fucking awesome. Engulfed my summer and years of school.
WolfXI
Oh god, I remember sneaking up late at night to play Pokemon, with the original Gameboy Colour and trying to manoeuvre the fucking light to be positioned correctly was so hard. Then I got myself one of the SP's. Shit was fucking tight.

I had the light attachment that was all bendy and shit so you can position it anywhere. It was so awesome.
WolfXI

I dunno what happened to them i think i sold them a long time ago. But that is cool, i can get a GBA emulator on my PSP and play it from there.

Personally, I think the DS is awesome. I bought an emulator for it, so I just download roms, put them on the emulator then play them on the DS. Shit is so cash.
My favorite games so far have been: Phoenix Wright (1-3), Final Fantasy IV, Advanced Wards DS, and Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow.
