Just thought it was worth a post to show how Windows 7 is coming along for those of us who's main concern in an OS is performance.

Shaping up nicely I'd say, considering it's still only in beta and performance will undoubtedly improve. May be the one to finally drag me from my precious XP.

Not sure if want...

If it ends up being close by a couple of frames or even surpasses it (which I highly doubt) I might just make the switch because I'm a faggot.
Shaun
Indeed.
They should just add the option to install without useless shit, and call it the ultra wtf lolo fast edition.

heearing lots of good things about windows 7, which i am surprised and pleased with, now if only we could ever forget about Win ME and Vista.
KingTut
All I heard about 7 was that it is the vista that should have been.

i have the beta of windows 7 installed right now, its not spectacular. just reminds me of vista with a new toolbar and a cool media center. idk but Microsoft needs to start focusing on making their OS'es more feature rich and just plain more different. its like a halfass upgrade from vista. they should call it Windows vista 1.5. Like would it really kill them to get edgy and create a new interface for once? they've keep the same basic folder navigation idea since windows 95.

Well it works, there's nothing wrong with it, and it caters to the majority of peoples needs who use it. If you want something different go Linux or Mac.

Ever since word got out Vista was awful and it flopped, Microsoft has been working on Windows 7 with the pure intention to make it everything Vista was meant to be, so yes Vista 1.5 is an appropriate label and a sign they're doing it right.

It sounds like you were expecting a next-gen OS and you only have yourself to blame for that.

create a new interface

But....... I like the one that they have now.
Shaun
I hate the stupid fucking vista start menu, and if I wanted to go back to the normal one I'd have to use a crap theme. FGSFDSIDD.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

And yes, Shaun. I hate the Vista start menu navigation too.
KingTut
XP for me = why I am happy.
ninedice
i like the vista start menu, i never have to go looking for anything
but i will be switching to windows 7 as soon as it comes out, if these performance figures stay accurate
and i will actually be buying it, unlike vista... fucking pos..
anyways
maybe ill be able to play starcraft and quake 3 without bending over backwards on windows 7

it just shows a lack of innovation. its been 13 years, we've went from single cores to quad cores, mhz to ghz, upgraded ram to ddr3, and 3 OS'es later they still cannot think of ONE SINGLE WAY to improve the folder navigation? i find that very hard to believe. there has to be SOMETHING they can do to improve it within 13 years . yes it works but is it the best they are capable of producing? of course not. dont get me wrong im a pc\win fan to the end but that irks me. it just seems like Microsoft makes something just new enough to market rather than going all out and producing the amazing quality products that their capable of. but hey, i guess thats how monopolies and companies work.

besides that, win 7 is okie with me.
Crazy Asian
Wait...how can they make folder navigation any better than it already is? Change it too much, and people will be confused.

I got the pre-beta version of it ,and it worked perfectly fine on my 4 years old laptop (aside from the Aero effect) .so yeah I think microsoft is doing things right this time.

although I was a bit disappointed that they didn't integrate WARP10 in the betas ,I was really looking forward to see how would the Aero render in software mod.

also wouldn't it be nice if they gave it a different theme from Vista ? I mean looking at it kept reminding me of vista ,they really need to give it a new Identity so people who hated Vista wouldn't think twice about buying it.

Just thought it was an interesting concept for windows 8!

They have already hired people to start working on windows 8 even before windows 7 has been released, and i guess i had a pretty good idea when i said the folder and navigation structure should be tweaked and redone a bit because they hinted that there would be new folder features and the folder navigation style would be revamped.
Guns For Sale
I"m installing W7 on my alt HDD to see how it is. I'll prolly like it.
WolfXI
IT'S AS BAD AS THE NEW STAR TREK. DON'T DO IT.
Guns For Sale
Lol well i was trying to, and i forgot i installed linux on my alt HDD, so it changed the file format. Windows does not see that format so i can't delete the partition and format the hard drive.

So i'm not going to do it. Maybe some time later.
