There has been some intrest in making (reviving?) a CSDL podcast.
This thread is for discussing it.
I will add my own thoughts later.
Downloaded
I want to. I'll help. It will be fun.

If we were to do it, I think we would have to make in an audio podcast, they're simple and effective.
Shaun
I assumed we were talking about the old CSDL podcasts anyway. The new ones were nothing like them.
I'd help, if I was any good at anything.
Elanzer
Yeah, it goes without saying it's impossible for us to do a video podcast.
Downloaded
What what do you guys wan the Podcast to be about. A general theme is a good idea, but I think it goes without saying that we're going to deviate a little bit from time to time. I was thinking we could start a bit of a humorous game review show starting with maybe the CoD5 BETA, Fable 2 and the EndWar demo. Most of us have 360's and we all have decent senses of humor.

Interested?
KingTut
Here is my thoughts

We do the show through skype conferencing and keep it using the link downloaded posted earlier in the "what are you doing" thread

The show starts with a what have you been doing in the past week/month/time period related to our topics (gaming/whatever)

Then we have a feature (EndWar demo, COD 4.5-is it worthy of that name or is it truely COD 5, and when we get our hands on it Fable 2 for example) this can be a review or just a commentary.

Just starting thoughts.

But this topic needs to be viewed by the entire CSDL community and they need to put input on what THEY want.
Downloaded
True that. I was just sparking ideas.
Shaun
Not everyone bums 360s. Idea failed.
Elanzer
There's more active members with 360s than not. Troll failed.
WolfXI
I don't have one, and my body mass density is roughly equivalent to seventy active members. IDEA FAIL SUCCESS.
skyfire
could talk about all systems, just need people with other systems to help out. IDEA STILL IN PROGRESS
Elanzer
Yeah, of course it wont be only 360. It just so happens that's where all the best games are at the moment.

If you guys can prove you can do itand supply a pilot episode I'd be happy to participate.
Shaun
I don't mind 360 games being talked about, just don't make it a 360DL XBOXCAST

fucking copyright if that gets going
Downloaded
Alright. That's a fair request. Who would like to try and get this thing going then?
MR.change
Hi guys how are things ? I know it's been a while , but I was busy with college and all . So you want to do podcasts now ? That's a break through . I can help with pc games , since I have unlimited access to all new releases , if you know what I mean . One problem on my side though is my bad ISP so I can only provide writing reviews , or small clips at best . Let me know when you need me , OK ?
The_Sorrow
I might be interested in helping out with this. Might need to study up a bit more on gaming in the past few months since I've somewhat been in a hole. Getting a 360 again soon too so I can get back into that bit. tongue.gif
WolfXI
I really need a 360. :<

I'm like the only person without one.

Chyea it's true. So can we come up with a roster for a pilot episode. I'm 100% up for it and it wouldn't take that long... Would just be nice if we had a few people involved who weren't still in high school. Tut and I would have a blast I'm sure, but how interesting can we really be?
KingTut
Well, I will be getting a bit more interesting come next week.

I was thinking of a tentative show being structured like so.

-Intro/Catchup on activities (not personal activities)

-Game News (if needed)

- Q4 Game impressions (owned/not owned)

- EndWar Demo / COD: WaW Beta Impressions.

- Conclusions (Games on the Horizon) or alternatively a retrospective, a classic game of the show that people can reminisce about.

Who would be up for a show structured as such?
Downloaded
"I", said Downloaded.
Elanzer
Are you two doing this or what?
KingTut
Downloaded wanted a rain check.
So tenatively next week.
Will give me more time to play through my new games. And I can see your initial gripes about fallout. I had a bug practically right off the bat. The overseer's daughter got stuck in place and had to be rammed to get her to move. Anyway more on that later.

OH YES.
Elanzer
I'LL SHOW YOU A REAL TUNNEL SNAKE AMATA.
Downloaded
I'd really like to get one more person. I'll have plenty of time next week as college apps are due on Monday.
The_Sorrow
If you need one more person I might be up for it. I guess I could do a review on EndWar and chime in on other things as well. Let me know if you guys would like that or whatever.
Downloaded
I dunno about tut but I think three would be a good number.
Elanzer
I was thinking the 3rd would be made up by a guest.
KingTut
We could get someone from our end but due to timezone problems international might be a bit different. I think the UK is the most viable option. So sorrow if you want to work on timing with us then that would be great.
Downloaded
I say we start with just CSDL members. Guests could be different members every week and if it works we can branch out to different people who aren't necessarily affiliated with the site.
The_Sorrow
Let me know what day you guys are going to do it. Weekends would be best for me, but if you don't want to/can't do it this weekend or don't want to wait too long for next weekend, then it might mean I'm out of it. Seeming you guys are half way around the world it would be early in the morning if you did it any other time than 10PM-12AM your time. That's just for weekdays though, if you're up for weekends, I'm good for anytime.
Downloaded
Yeah, my guess is we'll do something on a Saturday. That's the one day we have free in common.
The_Sorrow
Ok, that works for me. Let me know what week (this or next) we do it, so I know if I need to speed through to get a thorough review for EndWar.
Guns For Sale
i could do a porn section
Downloaded
That would be wonderful.

I was thinking that with the L4D demo coming out day after tomorrow we could do a section on that. I would definitely love to.
KingTut
I don't see how that would be a problem. So this Saturday folks for a 1-1.5 hour show over skype?
Right now I get the feeling that Downloaded and I will "host" while Sorrow makes a guest appearance. We can put together a schedule if one is required.
Downloaded
probably should.
The_Sorrow
I'm down for that. If I'm not done with EndWar I'll be pretty close to it, which should be good enough for a review. I'll get cracking on it tomorrow.
KingTut
sweet deal
Downloaded
Let's each have a section or two that we want to take care of. EndWar belongs to Sorrow. I can do CoD WaW and L4D and tut could host discussion on Fable 2/Fallout 3.

Sound good?
Elanzer
Who's going to be producing it?
KingTut
Either downloaded or I, this might depend on the reliability of the recording if we are doing it over skype (which is most likely) I will probably run it through audacity for editing and will upload it to a free podcast host site. I will probably make a account for CSDL if others want to contribute by hosting their own shows. If it fares well itunes would be the next step.
Elanzer
Eh, don't get too ahead of yourselves, this is just a pilot remember.

That is to say, it doesn't have to be polished, full length, crammed with proper discussion, and uploaded and advertised publicly - Save that for the actual thing. For now it's just a rough demonstration to show me that you two are capable of doing it, that hopefully I think you should continue and produce a proper series of them, and that I can entrust the title of official CSDL podcast upon it.
Downloaded
Yeah, that's fair. I'm excited. This is going to be fun, fun, fun.
The_Sorrow
Would you guys want me to wait if this actually gets off the ground to do a full-fledged review of a game?
Elanzer
It's probably best.
The_Sorrow
Mkay. Best be makin' it good, because I'm looking forward to doing some reviews of games as it's a possible career path for me and I'd like to build up a portfolio for it.
Elanzer
Podcasts aren't really the way to go for that. How do you plan on doing an audio review anyway?
The_Sorrow
It's at least a start. I'd just have a written review below me while on the air with them and go over key points and such, things I like, don't like, etc etc. I might just get bullets down for what's good and what's bad, and if I would recommend it or not, and then give a score out of 10. First things first though, get a written review when the time comes. I'll wait until after the pilot episode to do a big review.
Downloaded
Podcasts aren't generally entertaining unless they involve conversation between the casters. So a review of EndWar by you really means you leading a discussion with the rest of us. A set of points you'd like to follow is good but you reading a report isn't interesting to the listener.
