I have no clue if this is in the right place, but when ever I start CS:S and join a server, my guns don't appear. I still have sound , but no gun. I tried downloading a skin to see if they would still work and a error comes up for the AK-47 and it won't load the server. Should I reinstall the game, or just get a skin for every gun?

Moved to the correct section.
And if you want any help you can't just say "a error", you need to give specifics. What skin, what error, what version of CSS.

I figured out my problem, there was a issue with the download and install of the game and the normal gun skins where not there. I got an error about the v_rif_ak47_dx80.vtx file. I go into my game directory there was no materials, models, scripts folders. There was only a sounds folder. So I downloaded a AK-47 skin, installed it, launched the game, tried joing a server. I get another error about the v_rif_aug_dx80.vtx file. I do the same thing and boom another error. So i virtually solved my own problem with a little common seance.
Thanks Elanzer for moving my topic to the right place and the adivse for later issues.

It's normal that there's no/few files in those folders, they only serve as overrides. That's why skins etc. are extracted there. The default files are taken directly from the GCF archives.
It would help if you said what the error was.

Re-installing CS:S and then re-downloading skins would be the best way, if you're prepared to do all that ^^

Why not just delete the cstrike folder?

He said he did, but he also said that he's still getting errors.

I had to reinstall the game 4 times before I had all the files. I lost my disk so I had to download it and for some reason during the downloading/install my computer would restart. Not it works but now even though I am connected to the internet Steam says I am not so the only way I can log into steam is in the offline mode. If its not one problem its another...

Firewall?
And you probably didn't need to reinstall. Could have just deleted your cstrike folder.

I'm getting this today too. I'm guessing there may be an issue with Steam.

steams working fine for me, but apparently many people have been having this problem as well, probably due to the server in your area. just wait a bit, should be back up around tomorrow im assuming.
also, you could try deleting the clientregistry.blob in your steam folder. steam will automatically make a new one.
