I'm just kinda curious. I've been kind of inspired to try modeling. Though, every time I try, I have no way to test my models. I kinda wanna start small, like a coffee mug, or a bullet before I work my way up to larger projects like Bookcases, Beds, Firearms, and ETC. My brother reminded me that I was here sticking around and... doing... something...? So I'm(We're) thinking that why not ask you guys? You'd know what application to "find" and use because you use em!
Long question short, What application do you use to model? How do you compile your models for Source? Do you have to compile it differently with Orange Box Source?
Thank you for your help.

hmmm I've never been a model maker, but you might want to try Cinema 4D (correct me if I'm wrong people) also, I think there's some kind of program called Milman 3D. Either way there are tons of guides about this all over the internet, just google it. I think we may even have a few recommended tools posted in a guide somewhere on this site. If not you may want to try CDG.net or FPSBanana

I remember a lot of people saying milkshape was prettymuch impossible to use way back when. Are there a lot of tutorials out there for it? Has it improved over the years?
Thanks again for your help.

Like I said I've never really tried but there are tuts for just about everything these days. Sites like CDG are always there too (even though the community is generally just a nest of self-absorbed sodomites) anything we can do to help we will I'm sure. erm... other than that there's always GFX forums though I'm not sure how much help they'd be.
