![]() ![]() After the transition to CS:Source, many people were finding that their skill level dropped substantially and some very strange things were happening in-game. Blood decals were covering people's bodies, and they were running around with 70/80 health. What had gone wrong? Why was this beautiful game we all know and love so unplayable now? For some of you, you may be wondering what I'm talking about. Generally the point and click players who have not been playing cs for a long time have not had the pleasure of seeing the games growth and various changes. The rioting in the streets when the shield was released, (OK, maybe it wasn't that extreme!), but something 'happened' to our game that now makes it a bitter sweet gaming experience. So, there are a few images here that show the main problem off beautifully (thanks to Tom Selleck and Commando for the images) Here's what happens... you see the enemy, shoot him in the head. Blood appears on his head, you confidently hit reload, but he just carries on running and shoots you down. Then to your dismay you still see he has 100 health left. Now, I know your average military soldier or Terrorist is pretty hardcore, but this is just a joke! The main problem is, there doesn't seem to be a way to help improve this. As far as you're concerned, you hit the guy plain in the face, but the health shows a different story. Let's try to explain for you guys what's going on, and why all your opponents seem to have turned into Rambo. (Most of this is the writing of Commando, changed, re-worded etc... credit to him). What seems to have happened, is Valve have tested Counter-Strike Source on a 100Mb/s Local Network, where every player has the same rates (default cs rates probably). Everything looked great, this problem never occurred... Gabe shot Doug... he missed... (he's rubbish at cs Everything worked nicely, it's what would be called 'LAB Perfect Results'. However, in the real world things are very different, and this is where it all went down-hill for counter-strike source. Valve didn't take internet play vs local play into account when testing (or not enough anyway). So, let's look at where it all goes wrong in the real world on the internet. (If you want to call that the real world).
